Live Review From Metal-Army.com (Helmet & Intronaut 10/20)

Saturday, October 30th, 2010

“Local up and comer’s RIBS opened the show tonight. They have built a nice following though constant gigging and sharp social media skills and the early turnout was evidence as they had a lot of heads in the room. Less metal and more like an ambient, shoe-gazey rocking version of A PERFECT CIRCLE, they stunned the crowd with their fine performance. They may have put off some fans of the headliners, but they have a lot in common with the mellower parts of INTRONAUT and I liked their guts to stand up there and do their own thing. All of their songs have interesting textural, layered guitar parts that swept and swayed over the crowd. The best song of the set was called “Brains Out”. They have a strong sense of dynamics and humor in their style that I dug a lot. RIBS also put on a very good stage show and I will be watching their career with great interest.”

Bostonist Show Preview: Wadzilla Mansion w/ Dirty Dishes & Bloody Knives

Saturday, July 24th, 2010

“RIBS the band may be mostly reddit nerds, but the hard rock group can still serve up a searing steak… er, live music performance. After enduring endless puns about the suitability of its name for a rock barbecue, RIBS has decided to host just that, assembling the equally appropriately named (and dark rock inclined) Dirty Dishes and Bloody Knives to round out the musical menu. Wadzilla Mansion will play hardcore host to this grungy barbecue, where RIBS’ dark-glam melodies will mingle with Dirty Dishes’ slick riffs and gorgeous vocals to make a substantial sonic meal, topped off with Bloody Knives’ muddled electro-static wanderings. The food precedes the sounds, so show up early for a chance to nosh on real ‘cue prior to filling your ears with musical sustenance.”

Bostonist Show Preview: Exploding In Sound Showcase

Saturday, January 16th, 2010

RIBS is a dark rock band sometimes compared to Muse or Queens of the Stone Age—or, less often, Joy Division. Sunday night, RIBS will play with other rough-edged local acts at Church, creating an evening of deep sounds with a metal tinge. If you have Monday off work, there’s no excuse for not rocking out all night.”

Exploding In Sound showcase – Boston, MA 1/17/10 @ Church w/Ultra Violent Lights & Art Decade

RIBS Featured in Playground Boston and OnAFriday.com

Thursday, January 14th, 2010

Check out these two articles previewing our show at Church of Boston this Sunday, January 17th:

Playground Boston’s Weekend Picks 1/14-1/17
RIBS has a very cool sound… The dark combination of vocals and frantic guitars enable their sound to jump from a Death From Above 1979 to a fast-paced, much less depressing Joy Division. They’ll be joined on the bill by Art Decade, with an experimental style that PGB Staffer Nick Grieco describes as “The Mars Volta and Rx Bandits had a baby named Frank Zappa, who grew up listening to The Fall of Troy and Damiera.” If that sounds like your style, check these guys out. One more thing about this show – its cheap!

Boston acts RIBS, Art Decade, and Nooka Jones join NYC’s Ultra Violent Lights at Church on Sunday
Some of our friends have a show at Church on Sunday. No, it’s not a worship service. RIBS will join Berklee’s Art Decade, Boston University’s Nooka Jones, and New York City’s Ultra Violent lights for a night of mayhem at the Church of Boston music venue Sunday night. The band has a lot of new material as they’re about to release their first EP, British Brains. It’s also the first show in which RIBS’ new drummer Chris Oquist will perform.

Thanks to Playground Boston and OnAFriday!
